Discussion on the three sacred months was held in the Media and Culture Center

Why is more adequate the months of Rajab, Shaban and Ramadan to be called in Bulgarian as “the three beneficial months” than “the three sacred months”?

This was only one of the many questions which the audience raised within the organized by the Media and Culture Center of Grand Mufti’s Office discussion on the topic “Role of the three sacred months in Muslims’ social activity”. It took place on 19th of April this year (Tuesday) from 18:00 o’clock in the Media and Culture Center on 3 Pirotska Str. in the capital.

The participants were mostly young people – students from the High Islamic Institute and other interested people.

The moderated by Bahri Izet discussion passed in 3 panels. Within the first part the SMC Chairman – Vedat Ahmed briefed the audience on the tradition in Bulgaria with regard to the three beneficial months and made a comparative presentation – how was it in the past and what is the practice nowadays. In the second panel Dzhemal Hatip – Head of “Publishing” Department at Grand Mufti’s Office familiarized the participants with what the Holy Qur’an “says” with regard to the three graceful months. The last panel from the discussion held was chaired by Halil Hodzhov – Head of “Irshad” Department in Grand Mufti’s Office. He presented the topic about the three beneficial months in the sunnah (the tradition) of the Prophet (pbuh).

Within the followed discussion was addressed the topic for celebrating the graceful days and nights during the months of Rajab, Shaban and Ramadan – the three months are a period in which the Muslims in Bulgaria pay more attention to their worshiping and their relation with Allah. This is a kind of strengthening the iman and is better the initiatives and the practices in the months of Rajab, Shaban and Ramadan, which would lead only to strengthening the faith in the Muslims to be continued, explained the speakers.

A video recording of the entire discussion is coming soon.
