The Management Boards of the NCRCB and the United Evangelical Churches held a joint meeting

 

On April 16, this year representatives of the Board of the National Council of the Religious Communities in Bulgaria (NCRCB) held a joint meeting with members of the Board of the United Evangelical Churches (UEC).

The event was also attended by the president of the NCRCB and a Deputy Grand Mufti in Bulgaria Birali Birali, as well as Robert Djerassy, Rupen Krikorian and Petko Valov – representatives respectively of the Jewish, Armenian and Catholic communities in Bulgaria.

The meeting was opened by the Chairman of UEC Pastor Rumen Bordzhiev and the Secretary of UEC lawyer Greta Ganeva, who is also a representative of the MB of NCRCB. Then each of the representatives of the NCRCB held a speech and presented moments from the life of the community which he represents, as well as issues related to the work of the Council of the Religious Communities.

During his speech the Deputy Grand Mufti expressed his happiness and satisfaction with the held inter-religious initiative and noted that during the recent years the NCRCB has been working with renewed energy for the mutual knowledge.

“The shared cultural platform is a field of building trust and knowledge among us so that we can live together in this world”, he further said.

The aim of the held meeting was the representatives of the different religious communities in Bulgaria to know each other, as well as to discuss various opportunities for cooperation especially in the field of combating hate speech which becomes more widespread.

At the end of the held joint meeting the President of the NCRCB in Bulgaria and a Deputy Grand Mufti Birali Birali shared his hope that the cooperation between the different religious communities and between the NCRCB and UEC will continue also in the future.

“Only in this way we can oppose the hate speech and xenophobia” he said in his closure speech.
