Grand Mufti’s Office held a workshop for students on “Essence and basic concepts in seeking knowledge

For another year Grand Mufti’s Office organized and held a workshop for students from the Muslim community in Bulgaria. This time it was aimed at boys and took place from February 9 to 11, 2018 in “Gorna Banya” Hotel in the capital.

“In the workshop participated nearly 25 students from different universities in the country, but the major part were those who study in Sofia and Blagoevgrad”, shared for Grandmufti.bg the expert at “Irshad” Department Resim Shamatarev, who was in the organizational team.

 

The two-day event which took place exactly during the Inter semester break of the students included lectures of various thematic, united by the topic of knowledge.

In the workshop participated as speakers the Grand Mufti of the Republic of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hadzhi who focused on the knowledge as an obligation of the Muslims, the Deputy Grand Mufti Birali Birali, the lecturer at the High Islamic Institute Dr. Sefer Hasanov, Vedat Ahmed from the Supreme Muslim Council, the expert at “Irshad” Department Halil Hodzhov. They all delivered interesting in thematic and important lectures, related to knowledge and ethics and the ways to apply the acquired knowledge. Halil Hodzhov addressed other current for the major part of the participants in the workshop issues. His lecture was on the topic “Nikah – advantage or challenge”.

Among the lectures most of whom are part of the structure of the Muslim Denomination in the country, there was also a guest-lecturer Dr. Ivan Dyulgerov. The lecturer at the University of Sofia “St. Kliment Ohridski” introduced the young people to the “Intertextual semasiology in the Qur’an: the words “kitab” and “iman”.

 

“I liked the workshop very much. Concentrated around the topic of knowledge it motivated me a lot. All lecturers focused on the relation between knowledge and faith. An important reminder on behalf of Dr. Sefer Hasanov for example was that most of the shortcomings that exist in the Muslim community - laziness, lack of discipline and others are mainly due to the a weak faith” – commented one of the youths who participated in the two-day workshop in the quarter “Gorna Baniya” in the capital.

“Scholars in the past were expertsin different fields, they learnt a lot for a short period of time. They were distinguished by sincerity – they sought knowledge not for personal gain, but to be in favor of the society… the need of conscious Muslims for a better Muslim community…” – these are the highlights of the workshop that most of all impressed another participant in it. Due to the fact that he was not for a first time at a workshop, organize d by the Muslim Denomination, the young man commented: “The workshop was on the level – interesting topics, very good speakers… I was last at such a workshop in Yakoruda, the past year, but I think that I like this one more” – added he.

Besides the rich thematic diversity the students had the opportunity to take part in different discussions and debates. Their moderator in the framework of the workshop was Resim Shamatarev.

During the closure every participant received a book as a small gift on behalf of Grand Mufti’s Office.
