The Muslim community, and not only, in the resort town met with eager, joy and great excitement the most blessed month during the year – Ramadan. For a second consecutive year the local Muslim Board of Trustees (MBT) every evening organizes iftar dinner for about fifteen people, besides that during the weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, big iftars are organized which are attended usually by more than one hundred and twenty people, among whom also Christians. Such iftar was held on 6th of July, 2014 where official guests were the Regional Mufti of Sofia Mustafa Izbishtali and the publishing expert at the Grand Mufti’s Office Dzhemal Hatib.
During the iftars talks regarding the fasting during the month of Ramadan and other lectures on topics related to the behavior and the moral of the believer are given. Beside this it has already become a tradition every week lectures for men, women and children to be organized and delivered. On other hand in parallel to the beginning of the month of Ramadan the summer Qur’an course for the local children who would like to learn about their religion has also started.
For the last ten days of the month of Ramadan MBT of Samokov planned beside the tarawih prayer to organize also a night prayer, sahur and show of documental and feature movies, as well as animated cartoons on religious theme for all comers.
