Islam attaches a great importance of the generosity and charity as means for purifying the soul and getting closer to the Almighty Allah.

In a number of ayats (verses) of the Qur’an-i-Kerim The Exceedingly Gracious Allah encourages us to give from what we possess to the poor and the needy people. In one of those verses The Almighty prescribes the following: “And whatever good you [believers] spend is for yourselves, and you do not spend except seeking the countenance of Allah. And whatever you spend of good - it will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be dealt with unjustly.” The last of the messengers and the prophets, Muhammad (pbuh), who was the most telling example for charity and generosity, explains in a hadith (saying) in the collections of Bukhari and Muslim the meaning and the benefits of generosity as well as the loss of the miser in the following way: “There is no day which dawns on the slaves of Allah without two angels descending and one of them saying, “O Allah, refund those who give money” and the other saying, “O Allah, ruin those who withhold it.” The Muslim also knows that the reward during the holy month of Ramadan is many times increased and thus every believer seeks to be much better during this great month, to give more than in any other time and to perform the prescriptions in Islam in the day and the night, aiming at the satisfaction of the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the Almighty Allah.
Impelled by this commandments and following the example of Muhammad (pbuh) on 11th of July, 2014 the Regional Mufti of Sofia Mustafa Izbishtali accompanied by the vaiz (preacher) at the mufti’s office Hanife Musa and the secretary Rusi Radev, visited one of the many homes for children deprived from parental care (HCDPC) “Nadezhda” in the village of Gurkovo, municipality of Botevgrad, in order to donate plush toys, clothes, medicines and food like: yellow cheese, butter, cheese, fruit juices, sweets and others, donated by Muslims from the capital. The donation was received by the director of the HCDPC “Nadezhda” Mrs. Markova, where some of the sweets were personally given to the children by Mr. Izbishtali and Mrs. Musa.
At the end of the visit Mr. Izbishtali assured Mrs. Markova that this is the first visit in this home but not the last one. Similar charity initiatives for helping those innocent children deprived from the most valuable for their age, namely mother’s caress and father’s hugs, are planned also in the future. In her turn Mrs. Markova expressed gratitude for the donation made.
We ask the Almighty to accept our good deeds, to give us opportunity for many other years to meet with iman (faith) and righteous deeds Ramadan and to gather us in the Jannat (Paradise) with our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and our families!
