The students of the year-round Qur’an course in the village of Trapishte (Municipality of Loznitsa, Razgrad region) with a teacher Ibrahim Topuz successfully completed the study of the “alif, baa” book. During this period their training, which takes place every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 o’clock till the noon prayer, included also memorization of the short chapters of the Qur’an and supplications, as well as adhan (call to prayer) recitation – for the boys. From now on the students proceed to reading the Holy Qur’an in order to read it all (to make hatim), along with translation of the texts of the Book in Bulgarian and Turkish language. The training program also included classes in studying ilmihal.

Currently in the annual Qur’an course at the mosque in the village of Trapishte are trained nearly 15 children at the age between 10 and 16, 10 women, and among the students is also the 32-year-old young man Mehmed Mehmedov, who is blind by birth. He is the pride of the Qur’an course taking into consideration all of his successes for his young age. During the period 1995 – 2007 Mehmedov completed his music education at the Special School for Visually Impaired Children “Prof. Dr. Ivan Shishmanov”. After that, in the period 2009 – 2012, he continued his music education at the University of Shumen “Bishop Konstantin Preslavski”, “Piano” profile.

Today Mehmed Mehmedov is one of the diligent and studious students in the year-round Qur’an course in the village of Trapishte. On the occasion of the completion of the first and significant stage of the training of the group the course was visited by the Regional Mufti of Razgrad Mehmed Alya. During his visit the Mufti personally presented to Mehmed Mehmedov a special gift – edition of the Holy Qur’an for the blind.

“His happiness was great and the moment touched all students.” – commented from the management of Regional Mufti’s Office - Razgrad.

The 32-year-old Mehmed Mehmedov is a personification of the struggle and the strong human spirit which does not give up facing the difficulties of life. The physical blindness cannot harm the human spirit, mind and reason, seeking knowledge and pursuit of the world, because the true “blindness” strikes the soul!
