On March 12 (Thursday) this year was held the control examination for imams from Regional Mufti’s office – Veliko Tarnovo, ordered by the Muslim Denomination.

The event was opened with reading of the Qur’an-i Kerim by the guest-imam from the Republic of Turkey in Gorna Oryahovitsa Muharrem Yoncu. The host Syuleyman Mehmedov welcomed all guests and attendees after which representatives of Grand Mufti’s Office explained the regulation for the exam. It was taken by 12 imams in total from Tarnovo region. The examining committee consisted of: Ahmed Hasanov – Deputy Grand Mufti of Bulgaria, Halil Hodzhov – Head of “Irshad” Department, Syuleyman Masurev – Regional Mufti of Veliko Tarnovo, and Nuri Aksom – guest-imam from the Republic of Turkey in Sevlievo.

“All imams completed a questionnaire in the first part of the examination, and the oral examination included a check on the knowledge of the imams in reading the Qur’an, reading parts of the Book by heart, as well as supplications and others. The oral examination also included a short interview with each of the imams – for his education, educational degree, his experience so far, etc.” – the Secretary of Regional Mufti’s Office – Veliko Tarnovo Yashar Mehmedov shared for Grandmufti.bg.

The examinations with the imams in the structure of the Muslim Denomination, that aim to make a control check of the qualification of the Muslim clerics in our country, continue. The next examination will be for the imams from the regional mufti’s offices in Sliven and Stara Zagora. It will take place on March 15 (Sunday) in Regional Mufti’s Office – Sliven.
